The 1929 TRACTA A stands out as a front-wheel-drive endurance race car, achieving a triumphant 1st in class at the 1930 24 Hours of Le Mans and later participating in the prestigious 2023 Le Mans Classic. Crafted exclusively for racing, this unique vehicle is one of only four produced in 1929 specifically for Le Mans competition. Notably, our number 27, skillfully driven by Valon and Grégoire in both the 1929 and 1930 races, completed the demanding event both years.

In 1930, Grégoire's exceptional driving skills secured first place in his category and an impressive eighth overall, surpassing formidable competitors like Bentleys and other big-block engines. The Tracta A features a purpose-built four-speed gearbox with overdrive, tailored to the unique demands of the Le Mans race track, boasting a top speed of 140 km/hour (90 miles per hour). Beyond Le Mans, this historic race car made notable appearances at Francorchamps in Belgium and San Sebastian in Spain.

Preserving its authenticity, our 1929 Tracta A retains original features, receiving only a fresh coat of paint. Noteworthy attributes include the mandatory trunk and spare wheel, essential requirements for Le Mans racing during its era. Additionally, the caps (gas, oil, water) are secured with a specialized sealed system overseen by the Commissaire.

This historic race car holds significance as the personal possession and racing vehicle of engineer-inventor Jean-Albert Gregoire, marking the pioneering collaboration between Gregoire and Pierre Fenaille in establishing the Tracta company. Their venture resulted in producing the first-ever front-wheel-drive car utilizing constant velocity drive shafts.

A testament to its enduring legacy, our Tracta A received a special invitation to the 100th-anniversary celebration of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023, commemorating its remarkable participation in the 1929 race and victory in the 1930 24 Hours of Le Mans.
